Professor Xiangyang Zhou obtained his B.S. in Physics at Wuhan University (Wuhan, China) in 1984, his M.S. in 1988 in Materials Engineering at the Institute of Metal Research, Academy of Science (Shenyang, China), and his Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (England) in 1996.

Professor Zhou worked as a Research Associate at the Institute of Metal Research, Academy of Science (China) from 1988 to 1992, a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Center for Advanced Materials at Pennsylvania State University from 1996 to 1998, a Research Associate at the Energy Institute at Pennsylvania State University from 1998 to 2003, a Research Assistant Professor at the Applied Research Center at Florida International University from 2003 to 2005, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at University of Miami since 2008.

Over the years Prof. Zhou has received more than $3 million in funding for several research projects. He has been cited in more than 800 journal articles and publications.
